Citizens Panels aim to give people with a learning disability and their family carers a voice in the way that services are planned, prioritised and delivered. They are an important part of the new Scottish Borders Learning Disability Service governance arrangements.
You can join your local Panel if you live in the Scottish Borders, are aged 16+, have a learning disability or care for someone who has.
There are five Panels covering the following areas:
- Galashiels & Selkirk
- Hawick & Jedburgh
- Kelso & Coldstream
The first Panel meetings are now successfully underway, but there is still plenty of time to get more information, and to join this important initiative. New members are welcome to join at any time in the coming months, and family carer members in particular, in order that there is a balance in the membership.
The Panels are a very positive way for people and families to get involved in making things better and having their say about the shape of opportunities and services for the years ahead.
