Children in Scotland has been involved in discussions with members and other organisations, including the Scottish Transitions Forum, about some areas of planning for and meeting the needs of young people with additional support needs as they are leaving school. The Transitions Forum have identified “the big 9” – problems that arise with transition from school – and 9 corresponding solutions to these problems.

Parents contacting the Enquire helpline have reported some difficulties in transition planning, the options available to their child on leaving school and a problems accessing support for FE and HE courses.

Children in Scotland has designed a brief questionnaire based on these issues and would be very grateful for as many replies as possible. Some of the questions may not be relevant to you, please answer the questions that are.
