A new action, planning and representation group for unpaid carers is being set up in the Scottish Borders.

The Carers Advisory Board will have a membership purely of carers and will act as the voice of carers in the region. It will elect representatives to sit on committees and boards to represent the interests of carers. It will check on the progress of work to support carers, including the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 and the Borders Carers Strategy.

The group is supported by Borders Voluntary Care Voice (BVCV) and Borders Carers Centre. It will be recruiting members (and asking carers to help pick a new logo) at the Carers Week event on 14th June.

The group will meet for the first time the following day at the Borders Carers Centre. If you, or a carer you know, are interested in getting involved, you can contact the group by emailing admin@borderscarevoice.org.uk or calling BVCV on 01896 757290.
