A training course to raise awareness and build an understanding of children and young people’s experiences of domestic abuse in the Scottish Borders will take place on 1st December.

Organised by Children 1st, it is aimed at delegates who already have an understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and how it impacts on women. It is specifically aimed at anyone supporting children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

Children 1st logoBy the end of this course participants will have gained:

  • increased awareness of the impacts on children who live with domestic abuse
  • insight into the coping strategies that they may develop as a result
  • understanding of the complexities surrounding court ordered child contact
  • awareness of tools used to support children and young people affected by domestic abuse

The course will be held at Scottish Borders Council Headquarters in Newtown St Boswells from 9.30am- 4pm.
