Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has agreed a number of updates to its charging policy for social work services, due to be implemented on 1st April.

They include an automatic disregard in the financial assessment process for people with a disability related benefit to take account of disability related expenses.

The threshold that determines how much income people can have before they are charged will rise from 16.5 to 25 per cent.

People whose only support is a short break or respite for their carer could benefit from a change to charging arrangements if they have Self-directed Support (SDS).
